Downflow Booths

Downflow booths provide a safe, contained workspace with precise airflow control and 3-stage HEPA filtration, ideal for sensitive tasks like weighing, mixing, and sampling.

What are downflow booths?

Downflow booths provide a safe and contained area designed for open handling activities such as weighing, mixing , sampling or dispensing ingredients, powders of other precise and sensitive tasks. Our downflow booths provide a safe flow of air for the operator, 3-stage filtration with HEPA bleed filtration.

How do downflow booths work?

Downflow booths work by using HEPA-filtered air to create a controlled downward airflow. This airflow pushes dust and vapours away from the operator’s breathing zone, ensuring a clean and safe processing area while minimising the risk of cross-contamination.

Dust containment booth

Dust containment booths or downflow booths are an essential solution for managing ‘dirty’ operations within industrial facilities. Designed to encapsulate processes that generate dust, these booths effectively isolate such activities, preventing contamination in surrounding areas.

With RPL’s advanced systems to capture and control industrial dust at its source, they promote a cleaner, safer workspace for operators. By reducing airborne particles, dust containment booths help maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and create a more efficient working environment.

What industries need downflow booths on site?

Downflow booths are vital for industries requiring safe, controlled environments. The pharmaceutical industry uses them for handling powders and solvents, while the food industry manages food dust to ensure hygiene. In the chemical sector, these booths contain hazardous substances. They’re also ideal for weighing, dispensing, and packing tasks, promoting safety and precision across operations. Our step by step process, building your system, from start to finish.

Learn about our process and understand the key milestones to expect when working with us on your project.

Step 1
Enquiry & assessment

From your initial enquiry information, a site survey will be arranged to assess the site and the environmental and production problems you are experiencing first hand.

Step 2
Our survey

From our survey your requirements will be discussed, assessed and our conceptual design solution will be developed based around your specific needs.

Step 3
Exploring options

This could be anything from an innovative turn key installation for a dust extraction system, down flow containment booth or some other LEV system best suited to your application, to a simple bespoke sheet metal fabrication.

Step 4
Presenting to you

You will then be presented with our observations comments and a quote, technical specification and price for any equipment and or services which you require.

Step 5
Begin the project

Our contracts engineer will take up the reigns and project manage the contract through to completion. AutoCAD generated detail drawings, risk assessment and method statements will be provided where necessary.

Step 6
Hand over

Prior to hand over, we will conduct all tests ensuring everything is how it should be. This project will then be commissioned for hand over.
